Burning scraps

Wearing the jersey of his favorite club, Baba considered the waste dump his home. Working at one of the smaller waste dumps of Kumasi, he was one of the few pickers present. In the small building next to the waste dump, he slept most of his nights on a piece of carton, so that he could start early when the first waste trucks are arriving.

In order to find valuable material, he burned parts of the waste dump. In this way, all the food and soft plastics vanished and the metal and hard plastics were left over.
